The Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre (VCEC) is an impressive structure viewed from any angle.

A Gold (and Green) Destination

Protected by the largest green roof in Canada – a six-acre protected membrane roof with no flat surfaces and no two surfaces the same size or shape – the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre (VCEC) is an impressive structure viewed from any angle. The high profile, sustainable building has generated excitement throughout Vancouver and all of Canada, not to mention the global design and building community.

Olympic athletes are not the only ones going for the gold in Vancouver. The VCEC was designed with the goal of achieving LEED Gold Certification. The green roof was an important part of meeting the building's sustainability objectives from an energy efficiency, moisture management and durability standpoint. At the same time, the innovative roof design helps seamlessly connect the building with a surrounding ribbon of park. As thousands of indigenous plants take root on the massive roof, lightweight STYROFOAM™ Brand XPS Foam Insulation placed on top of the waterproof membrane will withstand wet environments, heavy soil loads, weather extremes and foot traffic, without sacrificing insulation performance.
